Tiny Tiny Dust Mites

What are these creatures called dust mites?
They are tiny bugs linked to ticks and spiders because they have eight legs rather than six like insects. They do not bite, but they feast on the dead skin that people constantly shed. They are a nuisance because their droppings are highly allergic and have been linked to a variety of medical issues, including asthma, rhinitis (a kind of hay fever), and eczema. They have also been related to various other ailments, such as conjunctivitis and dermatitis, as well as anaphylaxis, some forms of pneumonia, angioedema, and others in severe situations when the allergy to the dust mite enzyme is significant. The intensity ranges from unaffected to some of the more severe allergic responses listed before. What to do about dust mites?

How do I get them in my bed?
They are clingers, clinging to cloth, fur, or anything that provides them a place to hide, such as socks, soft toys, or pajamas, which may take them to a bed. They are capable of living on top of blankets and cushions.

Getting rid of them?
Dust mites like damp environments. Keep the humidity in the space low by using air conditioning. In the morning, do not make your bed. Allow it to dry out from the moisture it absorbs from your body while sleeping. They cling tenaciously, but a vacuum with a strong HEPA filter is particularly successful in removing the dust on which they feed. Weekly, wash linens in hot water (130-140 degrees). Damp clean the floor surrounding the bed. Use a wet one instead, which merely kicks up dust and mites. Available at bedding shops or department stores, Mattress coverings should also be used to cover mattresses. If you have a dust mite issue and your bed is old, replacing it is an intelligent remedy if you can afford it. Dust mite treatments are also available in most supermarkets to keep them at bay.
